Wondering what crayon is right for your little artist? Here is our guide to help you decide! Honeysticks are designed to grow with children as they develop crucial grip skills - from the early days of picking up their first drawing device, to schooling years.
From short and stubby Originals to long and lean Jumbos, Honeysticks is there to help little learners to develop, learn and explore. Here at Honeysticks, we provide a crayon to suit all stages of grip development and support them through each step! 🪜
Stage 1: Scribble 🖍️
When a child picks up a drawing device for the first time, they are likely to have a ‘fisted’ grip and require a chunkier crayon to begin the excitement of scribbling!
Short and stubby, Originals and Triangles are ideal as first crayons. Start with Originals, then move onto Triangles – specifically designed to help little hands to experiment with holding a drawing device and gradually move away from a fisted grip.
Stage 2: Draw 🖊️
Once a child has developed a more pronounced grasp (what’s called a ‘tripod grip’), it’s time to move onto the next stage: drawing!
Super Jumbos are perfect as this next step crayon – with their extra-long and thick design, they enable little artists to gradually gain better control on paper.
Stage 3: Write ✍🏻
Finally, a child will be ready to move onto the last stage with the most advanced grip.
Jumbos are larger than most standard crayons - making them perfect for little artists who have developed a more controlled grip. This makes them ideal for finer drawing and writing as they progress through their schooling years.
