Sustainability and Ingredients

Yes! All Honeysticks packaging is recyclable. We also recommend re-using our packaging, including our Bath Crayon and Bath Drop tins. (Did you know the Bath Drop tin can be used as a bath waterfall?!)

Honeysticks beeswax crayons are handmade using pure New Zealand beeswax and food-grade pigments for colour. They are safe for infants and children of all ages. They contain no paraffin wax.

Honeysticks Bath Drops are made in New Zealand using only non-toxic ingredients. This includes Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda), Citric Acid, Dextrose (Simple Sugars), Food Grade Colourings, Magnesium Stearate (Simple Salts) and Cellulose (a Plant Compound).

Like our Bath Drops, Honeysticks Bath Crayons are lovingly handmade in New Zealand using natural ingredients and food-grade colourings with no fragrances added. We use 100% pure New Zealand Beeswax and Soy Wax and a plant-based emulsifier in our Bath Crayons. They contain no paraffin wax or other nasties. Unlike other products that use plastic, Honeysticks Bath Crayons are wrapped in a unique 'crushed rock' wrapper, a sustainable choice that goes beyond traditional plastic options.

The beeswax used to create Honeysticks is a natural by-product of honey production. This sustainable process causes minimal impact on the environment and gives the crayons a wonderful honey scent.

Honeysticks Original Beeswax Crayons are proudly 100% plastic-free!

Yes, all Honeysticks ingredients are sourced from ethically sourced locations. The beeswax we use arrives at our factory in pure beeswax blocks from hives across New Zealand.

We use food-grade pigments to colour our Honeysticks crayons as we believe this is a lot safer than using the standard printing pigments that many other brands use.

Beeswax Crayons

Honeysticks beeswax crayons are handmade using natural and food grade ingredients, 100% pure New Zealand beeswax and food-grade pigments for colour. They are safe for infants and children of all ages. No Honeysticks crayons contain paraffin wax.

Yes! Honeysticks crayons are specifically designed by our in-house expert to support each age and stage of pencil and pen grasp development, from pre-school to early school years. See our guide below to see which Honeysticks crayon is best for your little creator.

Stage 1 – Scribble – Honeysticks Originals and Triangles

Short and Stubby, Originals and Triangles are ideal as first crayons. Start with Originals, then move onto Triangles – specifically designed to help little hands to move away from a fisted grip.

Stage 2 – Draw – Honeysticks Super Jumbos

With their extra-long and thick design, Super Jumbos are perfect for little artists who are learning to develop their grasp and gradually gain better control on paper.

Stage 3 – Write – Honeysticks Jumbos

Jumbos are larger than most standard crayons – making them perfect for little artists who have a more controlled grip, making them ideal for drawing and writing.

Apart from our Honeysticks Bath Crayons, our crayons are designed for paper, card and other art materials. If you do mark a garment or surface, we recommend using a cloth slightly dampened with warm water to remove the mess.

Honeysticks uses 100% pure, sustainably sourced New Zealand beeswax to make our crayons. This has a natural and delicious beeswax scent! (While they do smell yummy, Honeysticks crayons aren't designed for eating - save that for the honey jar!). Our crayons don't contain any actual honey.

Some of your crayons may have a white coating when they arrive. This is called 'blooming' and is a sign of the crayons' purity and quality! Only 100% pure beeswax 'blooms'. To remove, simply wipe with a soft cloth.

Bath Products

When bath-time is over, there will be no mess, residue, or stains left over in the bath or tub to worry about. Simply rinse away. Honeysticks Color Bath Drops come in a handy, resealable tin that can be safely stored in the bathroom for next time - making them a hassle-free solution for bath-time fun!

Honeysticks Bath Crayons are made from a Beeswax and Soy Wax combination that easily wipes off most non-porous surfaces (we recommend testing a small area first). When bath time is over, simply give the bath or shower a wipe-down using warm water and a cloth and rinse the colour away. If you have any issues, natural soap is great too!

Honeysticks Bath Crayons are made from natural and food-grade ingredients, and because of this, prefer an airy environment. For best results, always pat dry your Bath Crayons after use and store them in the tin with the lid off. Air flow will help ensure your crayons are in tip top shape and last!

Health and Safety

No. Our Honeysticks factory does not process any wheat, dairy, eggs, nuts or sesame.

Our crayons don't contain any honey, just premium New Zealand beeswax.  The beeswax used in Honeysticks crayons is heated at 90°C for at least 2 hours. It's then water-washed, and this process is repeated. We follow these steps to ensure Honeysticks crayons are as safe as possible - botulism spores are destroyed at high temperatures after 10 to 20 minutes, so the risk is extremely low.
